Platform: Virginia Energy for Virginians

The proposed Cap and Trade legislation has numerous flaws but only one will need discussion at this point. The fact remains that Cap and Tax will burden America's families with more taxes and higher power bills. I am vehemently opposed to said legislation and would patron a bill to protect Virginia's working families from paying any additional cost.

These steps will require technologies such as clean coal and carbon capture technologies that are within the realm of realistic use in our generation. The fact remains that coal fired plants produce more than 60% of our nation's electricity. We need to explore other sources of immediate fuel such as ANWR drilling and offshore exploration off Virginia's coastline. I support Governor McDonnell's campaign pledge to this end.

Common sense solutions are needed if this nation is to move further into the 21st century. The politicians in Washington and Richmond are looking to pad their wallets while bilking the Virginia taxpayer dry. As your delegate, I will champion new laws prohibiting cap and tax penalties from being enforced. My grounds for this is the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
